Warm white is the yellowish glow needed for the dual lens to stay red and green and not be bleached out to pink and blue.

Yes they are, They are known as bright or cool white the same as fluorescents are.

I have a Davis Mega Light that I use as a riding / anchor light and want to replace the small bulb in it with an LED bulb, What should I use?
The LED replacement bulb is a BA9S white Con Cave bulb. The con cave part is key because it focuses the light out the side as needed for this lens. This is a great product for use as a riding light or Anchor light as it draws very little current (20 ma) from your batteries while running all night. It has a very bright white light with a bluish tint to it. The life time of it is 50,000 hours and it operates from 10 VDC to 15VDC.  Back to Top

When compared to DR LED, the number of actual LED's you are using seem to be more - is this just to accommodate difference in layout pattern??

Assuming that you are selling to the marine marketplace, does your bulb meet 2 nm requirements for Colregs/CG?
The bulb will meet the requirements but is not certified by UL for the USCG, The reason is that bulbs as a rule are not test for the cert only the fixtures can be. This from UL labs directly.   Back to Top

Do you make a light that will replace the standard G4 light for a sailboat?
Yes I do but the pins are for the bulb that is side mounted.
Unfortunately, my lights have a hood with the receptacle for the pins at the back of that hood.   They would require a unit where the pins come out the back of the unit so that the light shines down and away from the pins.  Do you have anything like that?

I am attempting to replace a 12 volt lamp which functioned as a deck light.  The old bulb looks like it says 20-CP.  It is a bayonet style single contact and looks like a miniature "flood light bulb".  Have you a replacement or suggest a substitution? 
No we do not, as the cost of this replacement would be more than would be practical for the amount of use this type of light might have.  Deck lights are generally not on for long enough to cause a large battery drain.  Back to Top

Do your lights fit into the old 12v light system or do we need to purchase a special fitting along with your light? 
Our lights are direct replacement bulbs, meaning that if you remove the old one and match up the base with our LED replacement bulbs they will work.

I am looking at my bulb. It has two apposed "lugs" on the side of the bulb's metal base. There are two electric contacts on the bottom of the base. The axis of the lugs is perpendicular to the axis of the electric contacts. What do I use?

Is the Light output more, less, or equal to the light output of my incandescent 12-volt bulb?
As a signaling device (a Navigational fixture) they are as bright or brighter than a incandescent bulb because the light intensity is very bright at a wide power range (10 -15 vdc) where an incandescent will be very dim at the lower power range. But the volume of light thrown is less, the working distance is 4 -6 ft for LEDs.  Back to Top

Are LED Bulbs approved by the USCG ?
Following the existing regulations, only the light housing filters (Fixtures) are subject to an official approval (it must have the right color, be tinted in the mass and resist to ageing). Luminous sources must not get an agreement. However, lights must conform to the International Regulations of the IMO, which specifies the visibility distance of navigation lights.
We think that NU-LITES LEDs do probably conform to the International rules of the IMO. However, we cannot give any warranty about that. We also think that it will be very difficult to get an official paper which could attest that a product is matching a non-existing Regulation or that no Regulations applies to this product. As with other bulb vendors, we cannot invest in testing our bulbs in light Fixtures from all manufacturers. For more information, you may contact UL Labs derictly about the test they perform on behalf of the USCG and other regulating bodies.

How many percent of the emitted light is absorbed by the colored filters of the lights?
None! The answer is definitely "no" because we are not using white LED in front of colored filters. We only use LED's which are emitting a colored light, which is compatible with the tint of the filter. That is, about 100% of the available light is passing through the filters.   Back to Top
